Our Palliative Care program focuses on the anticipation, prevention and treatment of pain and suffering associated with serious illness as well as the side effects. Appropriate at any age and at any stage in a person’s illness or condition, palliative care’s overriding goal is to improve quality of life for both the customer and his or her family. As such, our program treats the whole person, addressing physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.
True to our caring mission, OPIS palliative care is shaped by careful listening, recognition of personal goals and wishes, open dialogue between customer, family and care team, and our commitment to provide customers and their families with the knowledge necessary to make informed decisions. It’s an approach that allows us to best ensure that each personalized care plan maintains the delicate balance between managing difficult symptoms and promoting the quality of life that our customers desire and deserve.
Care is provided by a skilled team of physicians, nurses, CNAs, dietician, social worker, clergy, therapists, psychologists and volunteers, all working together with the customer’s own doctor to treat and support the customer and family with integrity, compassion, respect and dignity.
Our dedicated care team is always available to assist with treatment decisions or changes in the focus of care. Even when a cure is no longer possible, selective treatment continues in order to ensure that the customer remains as comfortable, alert and aware as possible. Likewise, we will continue to provide the family with important information and the resources needed to get through this challenging time.
