Restorative Nursing

During or after completing a period of rehabilitation, ongoing Restorative Nursing can often help preserve a person’s optimum level of functioning and independence and reduce further decline.  Directed and implemented by licensed nurses, therapists and specialized aides, restorative nursing focuses on the therapeutic use of actual and simulated activities to help restore and maintain daily living skills.

Program participants are encouraged to make decisions and participate as much as possible in daily activities such as dressing, bathing and using the bathroom. Restorative care also includes physical activity that builds on rehab therapy gains and may also promote confidence and safety. Transferring from a wheelchair, getting in and out of bed unassisted and effectively using assistive devices are just a few examples.
